Amy Adams in full Amy Lou Adams (born August 20 1974 Aviano Italy) American actress, especially noted for her critically acclaimed portrayals of naive and charming characters. Adams was born to an U.S. Army officer in Italy and then grew up in Castle Rock Colorado. She began dancing and acting professionally around the middle of the 1990s, with Boulder Dinner Theatre, and following that the Country Dinner Playhouse. After moving to Minnesota, she took part in a mock documentary film about beauty pageants titled Drop Dead Gorgeous (1998). The film was a success and she became a screen star as a funny but dapper contestant she moved into Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She was married to actor Tony Curtis from June 1951 until September 1962, and was her mother to Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh was discovered by actress Norma Shearer, and was offered a contract for MGM during the 1940s. The decade following she starred in several well-known films like Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), and Living It Up by Martin and Lewis (a 1953 film).
